Springdale Police Chief Tom Wells presented the Blue Ash Police Department with a plaque to recognize their above-and-beyond service during the aftermath of the deadly crash that killed Springdale Police Officer Kaia Grant.

At the October 8 Blue Ash City Council meeting, Chief Wells commended Blue Ash Officers and Dispatchers for stepping in to help cover patrols and other operations after Officer Grant’s death.

Chief Wells specifically commended Dispatcher Katie Farmer, who spent several days working dispatch in Springdale, and Lt. Steve Schueler and Police Technical Services Specialist Kevin Deye, who created a touching drone video of Officer Grant’s funeral procession.

The inscription on the plaque reads:

“PO Kaia Grant, Springdale Police Department, EOW 3/21/2020
To the men and women, both sworn and civilian, of the Blue Ash Police Department:
We, the Springdale Police Department, wish to express our sincere gratitude for the support and strength you and your department showed us and Kaia during our tragic time of need. The Debt that is owed can never be repaid. Thank you.”

Officer Grant was killed in the line of duty during a pursuit on March 21, 2020. The 33-year-old was an eight-year veteran of the Springdale Police Department.
