Recycling & Waste

Residential Waste/Recycling Collection
Waste and recycling collection is provided free of charge by the City through a contract with a private waste hauling company (currently Rumpke) for all single family residences receiving curb-side service. Through this contract, Rumpke provides a Rumpke-owned 96-gallon waste container and a Rumpke-owned recycling container (16-gallon red bin or 65-gallon green cart) at no charge to the resident. Both items should remain at the residence as they are the property of Rumpke and the serial number on the containers coordinate with the residence address.

To order a waste/recycling container or to report a damaged container, call the contract administrator, weekdays 8:00 AM.- 5:00 PM. at (513) 745-8538, or email us. Rumpke will repair or replace damaged waste and recycling containers.

Residential Missed Waste/Recycling
If your waste/recycling is missed on your scheduled collection day report directly to Rumpke at 851-0122, and select the customer service options or, if available, you may call or the City's contract administrator at (513) 745-8538 during business hours. Rumpke will return within 24-48 hours to collect, but only if the container was at the curb prior to 7:00 AM on your scheduled collection day.

Rumpke Front Load Residential Truck
-  Rumpke is using these trucks around town for waste cart collection only and has selected Blue Ash as the perfect neighborhood for their newest collection truck Rumpke Front Load Truck Flyer. In order for the arm of this truck to collect your cart, it is necessary to leave about 3 feet between the waste cart and any other trash (such as your recycling cart). Place the cart facing the street with the wheels away from the street to enable the driver lift it in with the arem without needing to get out of his truck. You may notice that your trash is picked up at earlier or later times than in the past, along with a new driver operating the truck. Please remember to follow our contract policy of placing your containers at the curb after 6:00 PM the evening before and before 7:00 AM the morning of your collection in order to not be missed. Large items (such as a couch, washer, dryer etc.) will not be collected by this truck and you will still need to call the City to arrange pick-up. If you have any questions or concerns, please call the City's contract adminstrator at  (513) 745-8538.

Residential Holiday Delays

Waste collection in Blue Ash will be made on all holidays EXCEPT for New Year's Day and Christmas Day. If either of these holidays fall on a weekday, collection will be made the next day, with a one-day delay the remainder of that week (Monday collection will move to Tuesday, Tuesday will move to Wednesday, Wednesday will move to Thursday, Thursday will move to Friday and Friday will move to Saturday). Waste collection delays are printed within the Blue Ash Community Calendar. Note that collection delays of various waste contractors typically printed in newspapers for other communities may not apply to Blue Ash. Please note:  No waste/recycling will be collected by Rumpke on Tuesday, December 25, 2018 or Tuesday, January 1, 2019. There will be a one day delay for the remainder of the week.
