The Hamilton County Police Association Underwater Search and Recovery Team
trains once a month which includes annual swim tests. The other trainings are for maintaining skills and consist of boat operations, scuba diving in various types of water, land-to-water communication, dive gear inspections, and practice on the underwater robot. We get called out for any type of search or recovery operations such as bodies, vehicles, or evidence used in crimes such as guns. We stay on call for any agency, including agencies outside of Hamilton County. Examples of calls outside of Hamilton County include being called out to search the ponds for the guns used in the Pike County Massacre, West Chester to attempt to locate a gun in a pond that was used in a homicide, Dayton to help find a drowning victim, and Kentucky to assist with setting buoys on sunken boats and docks after a tornado, just to name a few.
