April was a big month for Blue Ash Golf Course PGA Pro Anthony Andrews.

“I was emotional. I was a pretty happy camper,” said Andrews.

After decades of hard work and dedication to the game of golf, he made it to the PGA Professional Championship in Austin, Texas.

“As far as the playing and the competitive aspect of our profession, I think it’s every golf pro’s dream to make it,” said Andrews. “I would say less than two percent ever get to do so. It is a pretty big deal.”

Andrews competed against 14,500 PGA golf pros around the country.

He finished third out of over 100 participants in the Southern Ohio Section Championship last August, which got him a spot in the national championship.

He played in Austin on April 17 and 18. He didn’t make it to the final round, but to him, just to be there was a victory that was a long time coming.

“It’s something that I’ve been trying to do for 24 years.”

As the Head PGA Golf Pro at the Blue Ash Golf Course, Andrews manages a team of 30 part-time employees, works tirelessly to make sure golfers have an outstanding experience, and organizes about 30 charitable golf outings per year.

“It’s different every day and I learn something new every day. It’s a lot of fun.”
