BAPD therapy dog wins first place at the Ohio State Fair

Licorice and Campbell Pohlman state fair champs

(August 9, 2021 - Blue Ash)

The Blue Ash Police Department’s therapy dog, Licorice, and his handler, 13-year-old Campbell Pohlman, have won first-place trophies at the Ohio State Fair 4-H Dog Show.

Campbell, the daughter of Lt. Roger Pohlman, and Licorice took first place in Intermediate Showmanship.

“Licorice and I train together almost every day,” said Campbell. “We practice obedience skills as well as agility. I think my favorite part of training is seeing how excited Licorice is when I praise him. He has learned to trust me and that has made him do well at dog shows.  He really is the best dog and I love working with him.”

Campbell also won first place in the “You and Your Dog” Interview competition in which she had to answer questions like “what does a judge look for when you do a Figure 8 exercise?” and “in what AKC group is the Finnish Lapphund?”

The 4-H Dog Show took place on July 31.
