September is National Preparedness Month and the Hamilton County Emergency Management & Homeland Security Agency wants you to be ready for emergencies.

The organization has released a newsletter to help families in the Tri-State get ready for the unexpected.

One way to be prepared is to have an emergency kit.  It should include:

  • one gallon of water per person per day
  • non-perishable food
  • flashlights and batteries
  • first aid kit
  • whistle
  • moist towelettes
  • can opener
  • local maps
  • medicine
Other highlights of the newsletter include: knowing the hazards that may impact you and your family, signing up for emergency alerts through Alert HC, COVID-19 myths and facts, and how to make sure your child is safe at school.
