Residential Waste/Recycling Collection

Waste and recycling collection is provided free of charge by the City through a contract with a private waste hauling company (currently Rumpke) for all single family residences receiving curb-side service. Through this contract, Rumpke provides a Rumpke-owned 96-gallon waste container and a Rumpke-owned recycling container (16-gallon red bin or 65-gallon green cart) at no charge to the resident. Both containers should remain at the residence as they are the property of Rumpke and the serial number on the containers coordinate with the residential address.

To order a waste/recycling container or to report a damaged container, call the Public Works office, weekdays 8:00 AM.- 4:30 PM. at (513) 745-8538, or email us. Rumpke will repair or replace damaged waste and recycling containers.

Residential Missed Waste/Recycling
If your waste/recycling is missed on your scheduled collection day, report it directly to Rumpke at (513) 851-0122 and select the customer service options. Rumpke will return within 24-48 hours to collect, but only if the container was at the curb prior to 7:00 AM on your scheduled collection day.

Residential Holiday Delays
Waste collection in Blue Ash will be made on all holidays EXCEPT for New Year's Day and Christmas Day. If either of these holidays fall on a weekday, collection will be made the next day, with a one-day delay the remainder of that week (Monday collection will move to Tuesday, Tuesday will move to Wednesday, Wednesday will move to Thursday, Thursday will move to Friday and Friday will move to Saturday).  Rumpke's Holiday collection schedule can also be viewed here on their website.
Please note:  Waste and Recycling will be picked up by Rumpke the week of Christmas and New Year's Eve for 2023.

Residential Drop-Off Service (Hazardous Materials, Large Items, Mixed Trash) - Weekdays Only
As a convenience for residents only, containers are in place at the Service Department Center located at 6131 Interstate Circle for drop off of items such as those listed below. Please note that residents must check in at the office prior to using the containers, fill out a disposal form (see below), and present proof of Blue Ash residency by showing a valid driver's license showing the Blue Ash address where you live.  If you have recently moved to Blue Ash and your address on your driver's license hasn't been changed yet, you will also need to bring a current utility bill listing your Blue Ash address where you live. Residents are required to sign a "Drop-Off Disposal" form in order to dispose of items (Fill-in Form). Hours for drop-off are 7:00 AM to 2:30 PM week days. No contractors may use these containers (no exceptions).

Items which may be disposed of include large or small amounts of unbundled brush; trash items (i.e., furniture, bedding, wood, lumber, appliances); hazardous materials (oil, gas, paint [see below link for Matthew 25 Ministries latex paint program], mercury, lawn pesticides, tires, etc.); and broken concrete, dirt, rocks, topsoil, and debris, but we do not accept electronics of any kind for disposal. These containers are extremely handy, especially if disposal is desired on a day other than regular garbage pickup, or if the item would not be accepted by the waste contractor. To confirm your items are accepted, please call before dropping off. Any questions may be directed to (513) 686-1250.

The date is listed each year in the City calendar which is mailed out to residents or you may call the City at 686-1250. This service allows residents to bring their "spring cleaning" items to the Service Center at 6131 Interstate Circle for disposal. Items which may be disposed of include large or small amounts of unbundled brush; trash items (i.e., furniture, bedding, wood, lumber, appliances); hazardous materials (oil, gas, paint, mercury, lawn pesticides, tires, etc.); and broken concrete, dirt, rocks, topsoil, and debris. Free household document shredding will once again be available. Residents are limited to four boxes (banker size box) of household documents. No business documents accepted. Residents will have the opportunity to view their documents being shredded. Proof of Blue Ash residency is required by showing a valid driver's license that shows the Blue Ash address where you live. Please note that we do not accept electronics of any kind for disposal. Click here for suggestions Recycling Outlets/Drop-offs (electronics, TVs, hazardous materials, paint, etc.).
