Private Swim Lessons

Private Swim Lesson Information
All of our instructors have experience teaching swim lessons. Some are even accomplished swimmers themselves! Instructors follow the School of Fins (Blue Ash Recreation swim lessons) guidelines and are also certified in American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, CPR and AED.

We offer private swimming lessons for those who would like one-on-one specialized program to help attain their personal swimming goals.  Private lessons are available for children (ages 3 and up) and adults. Lessons are 30 minutes long and can be scheduled directly with our instructors any time the pool is open.

First, you will need to choose an instructor that is right for you based on the information that is provided and your swimming goals.  After choosing the instructor that you feel will best meet your needs, contact them directly to schedule an appointment.  At your first appointment, you will meet your instructor, pay them directly, and undergo your lesson.  The number of lessons you purchase is dependent upon your goals and needs.

How do I choose the right Instructor?
All of our instructors are qualified but each one has their own unique style, approach and experience level.  We have provided a bio for each instructor to help you make an informed decision.

We encourage you to ask questions about any topic you are concerned about when you contact your instructor.  This will help you decide which instructor will be right for you.

How do I get started?
To set up an initial appointment, directly contact the instructor that you think will be the best fit for your needs using the information provided.

Abigail Teegarden - currently not taking new lessons

Best way to reach Abigail: texting is preferred
Fee: $25 for a 30 minute lesson
Hi there! My name is Abigail Teegarden and I am the assistant pool supervisor for the Blue Ash Rec Center! I have been a lifeguard with the City of Blue Ash for 7 years and I was a group swim lesson instructor for 3 years. I was a competitive swimmer for 6 years and focused on adaptive swim lessons for children with disabilities all through high school. I live in the water and couldn’t imagine a summer without the pool!

I just graduated from the University of Kentucky with a bachelor's degree in Special Education and recently accepted a middle school position. I truly have a passion for teaching and wouldn’t want to do anything else. I am a HUGE advocate for children knowing water safety skills and being comfortable in the water-it is a lifesaving skill. With this, I prefer lessons to be 1:1 (no group lessons, please) so that I can teach students based on their specific needs while keeping them safe. THANK YOU for considering BARC for swim lessons! I’ll see you in the pool!
