Blue Ash Firefighters and Police Officers participated in a training session today to learn how to better serve residents with Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.

More than 75 million people worldwide will be living with Dementia by 2030, and the number of people with  Alzheimer’s disease is expected to grow to 14 million people by 2060.

During the training, memory care expert Holly Henderson demonstrated techniques to help first responders communicate with patients. She also explained how music and art can be used to keep patients calm.

The training was provided by Serene Suites, an assisted living memory care facility currently under construction in Blue Ash.
