Three BAFD lieutenants promoted to captain
The Blue Ash Fire Department celebrated the promotions of three employees on February 28th. Mayor Tom Adamec swore-in Janet Dreyer, Louis Ernstes and Justin Burress to the position of Fire Captain. All three previously served as BAFD lieutenants and have a combined 63 years of experience in the fire service.
Captain Janet Dreyer graduated from Xavier University in 1989 and joined the fire service as a volunteer. In 1992, she began her full-time career with the Union Township Fire Department and joined the Blue Ash Fire Department in 2000. Captain Dreyer has been in charge of the department’s public education section and has help make the annual Blue Ash Fire Department Open House one of the best in the country.
Captain Justin Burress began his fire service career as an explorer with the Union Township Fire Department, often riding with Captain Janet Dreyer! He joined the Blue Ash Fire Department in July of 2002 and he quickly found his home. Captain Burress is also a Fire and EMS Instructor, and is the commander of the honor guard.
Captain Louis Ernstes began his career as a paid-per-call Firefighter/EMT for the City of Blue Ash in 1989. He is a 1991 graduate of the University of Cincinnati Paramedic Program, and attended his full-time firefighter certification course at the Norwood Fire Department. In November of 1992, the BAFD hired Ernstes as a full-time Firefighter/Paramedic in Blue Ash. Over the years, he has been involved in many areas of the fire department, including training, Fire and EMS education, fleet maintenance and Hamilton County’s Urban Search and Rescue Team.
As captains, Dryer, Burress and Ernstes will serve as daily crew supervisors and manage fire administration responsibilities. Congratulations to Captain Dreyer, Captain Burress and Captain Ernstes!
