Where are you located?

How can I join the Recreation Center?

Memberships are only available for those that either live or work in Blue Ash.  The Recreation Center is a “taxed” based facility, meaning only those who pay taxes to the city are eligible for memberships.  For more information on our Memberships, please click here for more detailed information, such as how to provide “proof” that you’re eligible for a membership.

 

Do you have to be a resident or member to take any of the classes or programs?

No.  Our programs and classes are open to the public (you do not have to be a member or live in Blue Ash).   For a brochure on our current offerings, click here.

 

How do you define a family membership?

Only legally married couples and their dependants that are claimed on their Federal Income Taxes qualify for the family membership.  Qualifying residents and business members are eligible for the family memberships. 

 

Where are the Fireworks for the 4th of July?

The Fireworks are held in conjunction with our “Red, White & Blue Ash” special event.  Red, White & Blue Ash is held every July 4th at the location of Lake Forest W. Drive and Glendale-Milford Road (on the Duke Realty Property across from the Blue Ash Airport). For more information on this and other special events, click here.

 

When does the pool open?

The pool operates from Memorial Day to Labor Day with special closures during certain times of the summer.  For more specific information on hours of operation and dates the pool is closed, please click here.

 

How much do memberships to the Recreation Center cost?

Prices vary depending on if you’re a resident or if you work Full-Time in Blue Ash and pay the Earnings Tax of 1.25%.  For a complete list of our fee structure and qualifications for membership, click here.

 

What are the building hours?

Our building hours vary depending on the time of year (we have summer and winter hours).  For a complete list of our year-round operating hours, click here.

 

How do I register for a program?

We have many programs available for our members and to the public click here to see our most current program brochure).  Registration is easy, you can either call to register over the phone by using your Visa or MasterCard or you can stop by and register in person!

 

What facilities are available for rent and what are the costs?

Spaces available for rent includes our gym, meeting rooms and even park shelters!  More information on our Facility Rentals and pricing can be found here.

 

How do I reserve a baseball or soccer field?

This is a special rental that will need to be taken by one of our staff members.  Simply contact the Recreation Center at 745-8550 for inquires on reserving field space.

 

How do I use the Climbing Wall?

The climbing wall is open to the public during special "open climb" hours (Monday-Friday 5:30PM-8:30PM and Saturdays 11AM-4PM).  When the climbing wall is open, it costs $5 for a day pass (this includes equipment rental).  You must bring a person to belay with you to come and climb at our wall, we do not provide belayers.  If you are a member with a Fitness Center membership, you can boulder (climbing no higher than the orange cut-off line) anytime the wall is not operating "open climb" hours for free.  Roped climbing is not permitted during this time since the wall is unsupervised. 

 

Does the Recreation Center offer swim lessons?

We offer swim lessons which are taught by our certified American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors.  Just like our other programs, swim lesson registration is open to the public (you do not have to be a member or live in Blue Ash). How can I find out the gym schedule is for the week?

We update our gym schedule every week.  Since we offer Adult Leagues and other special programs, it’s a good idea to check it before you come to the Recreation Center.  Click here for the most up-to-date schedule (PDF) or call 745-8550 to speak so a staff member.

 

What camps are offered at the Recreation Center?

We have several camps that call the Recreation Center home.  For information on the following camps, please click on the links below:

Can I bring pets into the park?

Pets are allowed in our parks.  However, they must be leashed at all times (leash must be no more than a 6’ leash).  We also ask that you pick up after your pet - we supply waste bags at the entrance of the Nature Park for your convenience.

 

When can I visit a park?

Is alcohol allowed on any of the Parks and Recreation premises?

By permit only, is alcohol allowed on any of the Parks and Recreation premises.  Permits can be obtained at the Recreation Center in conjunction with a facility rental.

 

What are the hours of the Tennis Courts?

The Tennis Courts are open all year long, but are only open to those that have paid for a Tennis Membership.  You do not have to have a Basic Membership to have a Tennis Pass.  Due to the higher use during the summer, it is suggested that you make court reservations by calling 745-8592.  The Tennis Courts are lit during the evening hours, but only until 11pm (all year round).

 

How do I know if a program or sport is rained out?

For programs that are hosted at the Recreation Center, such as swim lessons, please call the Recreation Center at 745-8550.  For field sports that are hosted at the Recreation Center, please call the Recreation Center Field Conditions Hotline at 230-5799.  For field sports that are hosted at the Sports Center, please call the Sports Center Field Conditions Hotline at 230-5162.

 

What is the refund policy?

Sorry, but there are no refunds on program or membership fees.  We will be happy to credit your account which can be used for another program or towards membership fees.

 

Can I bring a guest into the facility?

Yes, however, there are a few “policies” associated with bringing a guest into the facility.  Click here to see our policies on bringing guests into the facility.

 

What is the weather policy in regard to the pool?

Since our pool is located outdoors, we have a love/hate relationship with Mother Nature.  Of course we want to keep the pool operating as much as possible, since we only get to enjoy it for roughly 3 months out of the year.  But sometimes the weather gets a little too complicated for us to stay open. A general rule of thumb to follow is that if you’re in doubt, give us a call at 745-8550.

At what age can my child come to the Recreation Center unsupervised?

Our age requirements can be a little tricky to understand.  For your convenience, we’ve made a special chart that you can refer to that helps you (and us!) understand this policy a little clearer.  Click here to see the chart (PDF).

 

Can I have a pool party when the pool is open?

We allow members to bring groups into the pool during normal operating hours, but the member must abide by the guest policies that are set-forth.  We cannot “reserve” space for you on the pool deck, as our pool deck furniture is open to the public.  We do however have a special party room that is available that connects to the pool deck.  This makes is very convienient to hold a birthday party even if it gets "rained out".  Contact us at 745-8550 to book the Cooper Room for your next birthday party!

 

What is “Adult Open Swim”?

Adult Open Swim is a time that allows adults to swim in the pool without the distraction of those under 18.  Adult Open Swim is from the top of the hour to quarter past the hour.  There are also 3 Adult Swim Lanes open to those 18 and older in the deep end.  These lanes are open at all times.

 

Does the Recreation Center offer any kind of babysitting service?

If you would like to come and work out or take a tennis lesson but are unsure of what to do with your toddler or infant, we have a special service for you!  Our Tot Room is open from 9am-1pm on Monday through Friday and is open for children ages 6-weeks to 9 years old.  There is a minimal fee for the use of the Tot Room and you must be located on the Recreation Center property while your child is under the care of the Tot Room.

 

What Special Events does the City of Blue Ash sponsor?
The city of Blue Ash Park & Recreation Department offers many Special Events such as the Taste of Blue Ash and the Tuesday Night Concerts to name a few. An entire listing of all Special Events can be found on the Special Events page.

 

I noticed a piece of park equipment was broken or in need of maintenance. Who should I call?
Please call the Parks Maintenance Department at 513-686-1270.

 

Am I able to play music at any of the parks?

Music is allowed in the park, but the use of amplification is not permitted.  If you would like to use amplified equipment, you must file a permit with the Police Department.

 

How old do you have to be to use the Fitness Center?

All users must be 16 years of age or older to use the fitness center without restriction.  After mandatory orientation, users ages 14 and 15 may use the fitness center without restriction and users ages 10 to 13 may use the fitness center under the supervision of an adult (16+).

 

Do you offer any leagues for Adults?

Do you offer any youth leagues?

We are fortunate to be located in a great area for youth sports that the Recreation Center doesn’t have the demand to offer youth leagues.  To get your child involved in a league organization, click on our “links” page to browse the local organizations.

 

How do I make a reservation for the Racquetball Courts?

Reservations can be made up to 3 days in advance if you have purchased the Reservation Privilege for your membership (an add-on to your membership).  If you don’t have the reservation privilege, that’s ok, you can simply go to the Front Desk for a walk-up rental provided the court is not booked by another member.  Court fees of $2 per hour apply to all reservations.
