WASTE & RECYCLING INFORMATION

NEW! Backyard Composting Seminars <More Info>

GENERAL INFORMATION:
Waste and recycling collection is provided free of charge by the City through a contract with a private waste collection company (currently Rumpke) for all single-family residences receiving curb-side collection. Rumpke provides a Rumpke-owned 96-gallon waste wheeler and a Rumpke-owned recycling container (16-gallon red bin or 65-gallon green cart) both at no charge to the resident. Both items should remain at the residence as they are the property of Rumpke. Damaged or stolen waste wheelers/recycling containers should be reported to the Public Works Director's Office, weekdays 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. by calling (513) 745-8538. Rumpke will repair or replace damaged waste wheelers and recycling containers. To order please call the City at (513) 745-8538.

MISSED WASTE/RECYCLING - If your waste/recycling is missed on your scheduled collection day, please call (513) 745-8538 to report. Rumpke will return within 24-48 hours to collect, but only if it was at the curb prior to 7 AM on your scheduled collection day. To report missed trash/recycling after hours, call Rumpke at 742-2900, select option 1.

DELAYS IN WASTE COLLECTION DUE TO HOLIDAYS - Waste collection in Blue Ash will be made on all holidays EXCEPT for New Year's Day and Christmas Day. If either of these holidays fall on a weekday, collection will be made the next day, with a one-day delay the remainder of that week. Waste collection delays are printed within the Community Calendar. Note that collection delays of various waste contractors typically printed in regional newspapers (such as The Cincinnati Enquirer) may not apply to Blue Ash.

RESIDENTIAL DROP-OFF SERVICE (HAZARDOUS MATERIALS, LARGE ITEMS, MIXED TRASH) WEEKDAYS ONLY- As a convenience for residents only, containers are in place at the Service Department Center located at 6131 Interstate Circle (click on link below for directions) for drop off of items such as those listed below. Please note that residents must check in at the office prior to using the containers, fill out a disposal form, and present proof of Blue Ash residency by showing a valid driver's license and one other item showing your house address such as a utility bill. Residents are required to sign a "Drop-Off Disposal" form in order to dispose of items (see image to the right to print out form). Hours for drop-off are 7 AM to 3 PM weekdays. No contractors may use these containers (NO EXCEPTIONS).

Items which may be disposed of include large or small amounts of unbundled brush; trash items (i.e., furniture, bedding, wood, lumber, appliances); hazardous materials (oil, gas, paint [see below listing for Matthew 25 Ministries], mercury, lawn pesticides, tires, etc.); and broken concrete, dirt, rocks, topsoil, and debris. These containers are extremely handy, especially if disposal is desired on a day other than regular garbage pickup, or if the item would not be accepted by the waste contractor. To confirm your items are accepted, please call before dropping off. Any questions may be directed to (513) 686-1250 weekdays 7 AM - 3 PM. The City will host a "Neighborhood Clean-up Day" once each year to allow residents to use the facility on a Saturday. In 2012, the date is Saturday, May 5, 2012 from 9 AM - 3 PM (see below for more information).

NEIGHBORHOOD CLEAN-UP DAY (Saturday Drop-Off) - The Service Department Center will host a clean-up day yearly to allow residents access to the facility on a Saturday. The 2012 date is May 5, 2012 from 9 AM - 3 PM.  Please follow the guidelines as listed above under "Residential Drop-Off Service" to view acceptable items and required proof of residency. Only the Service Department Center's yard area is open during this time, the office is closed. To confirm your items are accepted, please call the office at (513) 686-1250 weekdays 7 AM - 3 PM. In an effort to cut back cost, there will not be dumpsters available in any residential neighborhoods, only at the Service Department Center. The on-site shredding service will be offered again to residents in 2012. The City will arrange for a company to be on-site to properly shred and dispose of your records at no charge to residents. This service is for residential household records only, no business records will be accepted. Each resident may bring up to four boxes of household records to be shredded and have the opportunity to view the shredding of their items.
