Blue Ash is proud that the Sycamore Senior Center calls Blue Ash home. The popular and Center is full of activity. Their goal is to assist older adults to live their lives with independence and dignity for as long as possible in their own homes. Individuals age 55 and older are invited to become members; however, membership is not required to participate in the Center’s programs or to receive any service. In addition to Blue Ash, the Sycamore Senior Center serves the residents of: Amberley Village, Arlington Heights, Camp Dennison, Deer Park, Evendale, Indian Hill, Kennedy Heights, Loveland, Madeira, Montgomery, Pisgah, Pleasant Ridge, Reading, Sharonville, Silverton, Sycamore Township, Symmes Township, and West Chester. The annual dues are $20 per person or $35 per couple and help underwrite the services the Center provides. The City of Blue Ash also financially supports the Sycamore Senior Center on an annual basis.

EDUCATION, RECREATION, AND FITNESS: At the Sycamore Senior Center, older adults can enrich their lives through life-long learning programs. Educational, health, and self-improvement classes keep minds active and creative. The Center offers a state-of-the-art fitness center and classes including yoga, low-impact aerobics, and tai chi to keep the body flexible and strong. Sycamore Senior Center provides many different ways to enjoy free time, including drawing and watercolor classes, computer classes, investment clubs, hobbies, and social activities. Day trips as well as journeys to all corners of the globe are offered throughout each year.

SOCIAL SERVICES: A full-time licensed Social Worker provides counseling, crisis intervention, advocacy, referrals to other agencies, and help with filing benefit claims and insurance forms. Arrangements for home health care and other services are offered as well.

HANDYMAN SERVICES: A handyman service, run by Senior Center volunteers, helps older adults with light chores around the home as well as minor home repairs (supplies are the responsibility of the client).

NUTRITION: A hot, nutritious lunch is served from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Deli sandwiches, soups and salads are also available in the Sycamore Café. For those who are unable to leave their homes or prepare their own meals, the Sycamore Senior Center provides home delivered meals. Volunteers deliver these Meals-on-Wheels Monday through Friday with optional meals provided for weekends. Meals are available on a donation basis.

COMPUTER LEARNING CENTER: Sycamore Senior Center operates a unique Computer Learning Center offering state-of-the-art equipment and a variety of classes. Basic computers, word processing, Internet, and other classes are each two hours long, once per week for a five-week session. Open computer lab time offers older adults the opportunity to have questions answered by qualified volunteer instructors.

TRANSPORTATION: Sycamore Senior Center offers transportation Monday through Friday to the Senior Center as well as to medical appointments, chemotherapy and radiation treatments, therapy appointments, and grocery shopping. A wheelchair accessible van is also available. Medical appointments must be made at least two weeks in advance.

HOME HEALTH CARE: Sycamore Senior Center offers Medicare-certified, Joint Commission Accredited home health care to support health and wellness in the home. Services include professional nursing care; physical, occupational and speech therapies; personal care; and home making. Call (513) 782-2546 for more information.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: Many volunteer opportunities are available at the Sycamore Senior Center, including Meals-on-Wheels drivers, program instructors, office workers, and van drivers, to name a few.
