Citizen Service Request
On Thursday, October 23, the City of Blue Ash hosted a golf outing as a “thank you” for the service personnel based at the Ohio Air National Guard Station – the 123rd Air Control Squadron (ACS) – in Blue Ash on McKinley Road. “It was truly a pleasure to enjoy a round of golf at the Blue Ash Golf Course. The 123rd ACS has enjoyed a long and meaningful partnership with Blue Ash, and this outing was an exciting opportunity to reintroduce and reinforce support for each other,” commented Lt. Colonel Gene W. Hughes, Jr., Commander of the 123 ACS. The men and women of the 123rd sincerely appreciate the recognition and hope to partner with the City again in the near future,” added Hughes.
The City recently learned that approximately 75 people based at the Blue Ash ANG station will be deployed to support Operation Iraqi Freedom in early 2009, with members expected to serve approximately four months. “Too often, with so much other information taking over the headlines these days, we take less time to thank those who continue to protect our country and our freedom,” stated Mayor Robert J. Buckman, Jr., who participated in the golf outing along with many members of the 123 ACS. “The members of the Air National Guard station in Blue Ash have supported our community and have participated in our local events for so many years now. This outing is just a small way for the City to say ‘thanks’ and to let them know that they are in our thoughts and prayers,” added Buckman.
The 123rd ACS is an integral part of the Air Force Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence system by directing air assets and providing surveillance of airspace, and supporting mission execution, within the assigned area of responsibility (AOR). Within this geographical AOR, the 123rd manages and directs all air defense and airspace management activities.
